Detroit Auto Show

This last weekend, we went to the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. It was AWESOME!!!! One of Justin's friends from college, Chuck, is an engineer at GM and showed us all around Detroit. We went over Friday night, went to the auto show and hung out with Chuck on Saturday, then went home on Sunday. Below are some pics from the show. It was really great and I am so glad we got to go. I am going to try and post some videos throughout the day. Enjoy!

Yeah! We are here!

Babies for Obama!

Here are a couple pics from our little inauguration party yesterday. The kids had a lot of fun and of course we did get to watch some of the festivities while chasing after them. It was an incredible day for our country and I am glad we all got to experience it. I am feeling a little better. This cold is like a roller coaster, sometimes I am good and other times it feels like my head is in a vice! I figured out the best way for a stay-at-home mom to be sick...put a blowup mattress in the middle of the living room. Carter loved to crawl all over it and I got to rest at the same time! Enjoy the pics.

Yeah for President Obama!!! (Carter, Lily, and Carson)

Lily knows what the camera is and evidently Carson is tuning us out!

Carson's "Babies for Obama" shirt...it was CUTE!

Carson and Carter chasing each other.

I know, I know, I know...

I know I promised videos and I still have them, but I do have a good excuse...we all have been SICK!!! First Carter got sick, then Justin got sick, and now that they have recovered, of course I get sick. But that is not going to stop us from celebrating today! We are going to our friends Laura and Lily's house to have an inauguration party. I met Laura at the United Hospital playgroup when Lily was only 4-5 weeks old...she is now almost 1 and a great friend of Carter's. All our other friends will be over there today too to watch history in the making. All I have to say is YES WE CAN!!! :)

Can it get any colder???

Can it possibly get any colder?? We are under a wind chill advisory until noon on Friday. We know it is cold when the high tomorrow is supposed to be -4!!!!! Tonight it is supposed to drop to -18 and then tomorrow night to -25...too darn cold for this west coast girl. Oh well, I guess it could be worse, we could get more snow. :) I have a ton of pics and videos from our trip to Washington and some since we have been home. I have been very busy trying to get back into our little routine. I have been making bread, cooking dinners, cleaning, playing trucks, and of course, I finished the Twilight series. It was really good and neat since I knew a lot of the places in the books. I would love to be able to post the videos, but they will have to wait since Carter got up from his nap early. He has a slight cold and was only able to sleep for about an hour. Love to all! Enjoy the pics.

Carter and Grandma Judy on Christmas...the only photographic proof that I dressed him up for Christmas!

Carter and his cousin Max playing...Max used Carter as a pulling up post.

Max trying to steal Carter's plane.

Hehehehe...Auntie Barbara got ahold of Max and did his hair. I am really jealous that Max can do this...Carter's hair is too fine. :(

Rocker boy Max!

I love these boys!

Daddy watching Carter and Max.

What do you see out there Max??

I am pretty sure it is....

BEER!!!! *yell the boys as the pound on the door*

It has been a long holiday season...

Carter loves Mommy's homemade toast!

and jelly!

So my mom was RAVING about a hot dish she made...so I had to one-up her. Mine had fresh potatoes, carrots, corn, and onions on the bottom.

then I added leftover roast and seasoning...

and topped it off with creamy chicken soup and cheese. Mine is way better Toots!!! hahahaha...

After I shoveled the driveway.

We are back in Wisconsin!

We got back to Wisconsin on Sunday night and do I have pictures posted yet...NO! I can't believe how busy I have been. I had to go grocery shopping, do laundary, make all our meals, SHOVEL MORE SNOW...and I also might be reading the Twilight series and have not been able to put them down. :) I am on book #4 and will hopefully be done with the series soon so I can come back to planet earth. Whenever I read a really good book, I tend to lose myself in it. I starting reading them because they take place in Forks, WA, where as many of you know, we used to live. So in leiu of pictures (hopefully by tomorrow night they will be up), I will post some of my favorite memories from our trip home:
  • Playing blood sport Uno at the Hovey house...we got Charlie and Katie in on it too...who knew it could be such a vicious game?
  • Playing Smear at the Johnson house...a really fun card game that we played quite a bit. Justin only accused us of cheating a couple times...which is an improvement over him accusing Misty and I of cheating at Monopoly about 20 times.
  • Hearing Carter say "Uh Oh" for the first time. Grandpa Dale helped him learn that one!
  • Sending dirty text messages out on my Mom's phone. I know I am evil...
  • Watching Max dance to the beer song on Justin's Myspace profile. I have a video and will hopefully be able to post it tomorrow. It was hiliarious.
  • Spending the evening at Silver Shores watching Chelsea and Bailey karaoking to "We be stroking it." Mark picked out the song for them. (Hahahha...I have this on video too!) I really miss those girls more than they will ever know...
  • Spending time with our friends and family. To those of you we didn't see because of weather and time constraints...please know you were in our thoughts. :)

We got here!

We FINALLY got to Washington late yesterday afternoon...YEAH! Our flight went very well. Carter did great for having to be confined to such a small space for 4 hours. There was a lady in front of me who, as Justin would say was a Royal "B" and whanged her seat back so Carter had about six inches to move around. She had her knees up on the seat in front of her and was practically laying down. Now I understand people put their seats back on planes, especially if the person in front of you does. But I had a child on my lap lady! There was only space for one of us and Carter became a little ansty because of his lack of space. So being the distinguished lady I am...I kneed her seat whenever I could, had Carter kick her seat off and on, and let him play the bongos on her seat back. :) Did she get the hint??? NO. Was I one of those parents that let their little brat do whatever they wanted on the plane??? YEP. (To her at least.) Oh well. Everyone else around us loved Carter and could not get over how well he did. He played peek-a-boo with the guy behind us and quickly charmed the Grandmas in the other row. So overall, traveling went well and we are now here. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday!

Not home yet!

Our flight from Chicago was cancelled last night...so we are stuck in Wisconsin for the time being. We are going to try flying out again in a couple days. The weather here and the weather in Portland is terrible, so hopefully we can make it home before Christmas. Hope to see you all soon. Love to all.
